Here is the scoop on the owner:

1.Tell me a little about yourself.
My name is Cristy Ramos, owner of Artisan Bath & Body. I'm a proud stay at home mom who has a wonderful and helpful husband and three home-schooled children. I love nature as much as I love learning about different cultures and crafts. Lover of all animals, coffee, and tea.

2.Where does your inspiration come from when crafting?
My inspiration to make bath and body products comes from my youngest son. Since my youngest son was born, he started having bad skin conditions because of the products we used back then. On 2010, I started searching for as many alternatives as I could find to live healthier and greener, and that was when we started making our own products and making changes where it was possible.

3.Who taught you and how did you learn to craft?
Since I was little, I was always involved in crafts like ceramic, embossed metal, sewing, crochet, and much more. As I grew older, this made me get inspiration to make our own things. I read many books about soap-making with different methods and continued learning more and more each time until I started making soap.

4. Any Specific Tips you have for newbie crafters starting a business in etsy?
At the end of 2012. we decided to open an Etsy Shop, opening our Etsy shop led us to social websites (were we got most of our customers from). After our 1,000 sales (on 2013), we decided to open a website were we could have more new and returning customers too. We then understood that having social media helps.

5. Name 3 websites you couldn’t live without.
The three websites I couldn't live without are #1 Etsy.com #2Facebook.com #3 Tumblr.com

6. What are your 3 favorite shops and why.
My three favorite shops on Etsy are #1 www.supersock.etsy.combecause they have many unusual recycled stuff that I really love so much #2 www.lizsox.etsy.com because she knits artisan socks and beanies from scratch and I really love them #3www.mountainartcasting.etsy.com because his sculptures are so beautiful, I love them so much!
I see my crafting business in in 10 years having a storefront, where we can sell our items locally.

  1. I absolutely ADORE this soap shop! I found them through Community Treasury Team on Etsy and bought from them through there.
I've had to cut back on expenses, so I haven't been able to order ANY handmade soap since the beginning of this year...I went through a very terrible case of withdrawals too!
I had no idea that they were on tumblr. I'm on my way to go and follow there.

I love what Cristy has to say about social media. I'm a social media junkie, myself. =0)
Great interview, Mary Ann. Have a terrific weekend!
