Let us meet Vera!
1. Tell me a little about yourself.
I'm a retired hair dresser and I used to work full time in a floral shop as a
floral designer, now I'm a part time floral designer( I work holiday times)
As long as I can remember I have always loved to sew and do all kinds
of crafts. I first started sewing when I was a little girl. I helped Grandma
tie quilts. But did not start using a sewing machine until I was in high school.
I made my own clothes and when my kids were born I made their cloths
until they got bigger. From making clothes I turned to doing crafts.
I make cloth dolls, bears, rabbits, grapevine & barbwire wreaths with silk flowers.
Home decor pot holders, potato bags and other items and I also do custom orders.
2. Where does your inspiration come from when crafting?
I can look at different decorations, flowers and fabric and the ideas come to me.
My family and friends ask me to make things for them and give me ideas.
3. Who taught you and how did you learn to craft?
My Grandma and Mother taught me how to sew, the crafting was self taught
4. Any Specific Tips you have for newbie crafters starting a business in easy?
Try to take real clear pictures of your items, with back ground that do not take away from
the item you are wanting a picture of. And make sure that you use all the tags allowed
when you list items. Describe the items the best you can, using words that people would use when the search for that item.
It also helps you to get more shops receive more views and sales if you join teams,
and take part in the boards, the more people see your shop icon and get to know you
and your shop the better it is for sales!
5. Name 3 websites you couldn’t live without.
www.countrycrittersandmore.com
www.embroiderydesigns.com
www.amazingdesigns.com
6. What are your 3 favorite shops and why.
There are so many wonderful shops that I don't think I could pick only 3!
If only I had more money I would buy from all of them, and then I would have
to have a bigger house to put it all. Oh by the way my closets are running over
with fabric & crafting stuff!!
7. Where do you see your crafting business in 10 years?
I really don't know where my shop will be in 10 years!! I do know that if i'm able
to use my hands I will be sewing and doing some type of crafts!
Visit her etsy shop, Stitchinthread @ https://www.etsy.com/shop/Stitchinthread. What is your favorite item from Vera's shop? We'd like to know! Thank You!
