Crafting Anecdotes: KNIT HAPPENS!

“Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit either.”

I used to knit on the bus pretty regularly and its not unusual to get a comment or question from a stranger. But one time in particular I really broke the ice when my ball of yarn fell out of my bag and rolled all the way down to the other end of the car. Everyone burst into laughter because it was so unexpected and from then on the whole mood of the car changed. Everyone was talking to me, and to each other, and there were a lot more smiles the rest of the way home.

I don't knit or crochet. In fact, I can't even sew a button on a shirt...Terrible, I know. But my daughter can knit a little bit.

  2. Ha! Isn't it funny how yarn can break the ice? I love to knit while having coffee at our local diner, as soon as I break out the yarn and needles people always become so engaging. Great story!
